Speedy Delivery http://www.businesscasualcomic.com/index.php?date=20090701 Today's comic is pretty much exactly how my wife and I have been describing the delivery of our latest child. I guess we each have our own perspectives on the exciting portions of the delivery. Really, though, the drive to the hospital is all I have to brag about. It's not like I did anything else other than take videos and pictures after he was out. And speaking of pictures, here's one of me with the newest little bundle.

Yep, he's already bored of me.

And now, an open note to all drivers. If you see a car speeding toward you from behind with hazard lights blinking, headlights flashing, and horn constantly blaring, it's just possible an emergency situation is occurring, and you should get out of the way. There's one main reason that I chose to do 90 on the shoulder of the highway. It's the only way that I was going to be able to get through traffic. I'm not even sure if I would have moved some traffic if I had an ambulance siren attached to my car.

Really people, is your commute that important and are you that wrapped up in your own life that you can't move over and clear a lane?

And, motorcycle guy that I was stuck behind for about 2 minutes when I didn't have a shoulder available, I nearly just pushed you out of the way. I have a little hatred still stuck in my heart for you. There's no possible way you couldn't see and hear me.

Now that I have that off my chest, both the Mom and the baby are doing fine. We all came home yesterday.

Welcome Baby! http://www.businesscasualcomic.com/index.php?date=20090629 There's a new addition to the Combs family. Josiah was born today at 8:13 am. If I had known he was coming today, I would have did a comic to celebrate.

Comic-Con! http://www.businesscasualcomic.com/index.php?date=20090617 This is it. The Big One. Tell your friends.

I'm taking the deep plunge this year and will be a guest at the San Diego Comic Con. I'll be sharing space with my friend Topher Davila and the rest of the TomatoTV crew at their booth. I'll post an actual booth number and more information about my actual con location when I have it.

I'm super excited to just to be able to attend the convention. Getting the ability to actually attend as a creator sweetens the pot even more. I'll be bringing plenty of sketch cards, minis, t-shirts, and more to sell at the con. I'm even going to actively seek out some commissions for the first time at a con. I've done them before, but it's usually people approaching me and asking. I'm going to try and actually bring some signage and see if I can actually get some con sketch work in since there are multiple days for me to work on art.

If you're attending the convention, and you are a reader of Business Casual, I'd love for you to stop by the booth and say, "Hello". One of the brightest highlights of a convention for me is to meet people that actually read the strip.

Get It Right The First Time http://www.businesscasualcomic.com/index.php?date=20090610 Sometime, as developers, we're really the ones to blame for the problems that we see. But that doesn't stop us from complaining when someone points out an issue with our code later. We developers sometime have an arrogance about how we would never click buttons in that sequence or never enter an ampersand in that field. But sometimes, users will do those things, and we should be ready to accept the fact that we didn't account for every instance. I know that sometimes a time crunch is in place, and that can be the primary reason for some of these types of errors. But, honestly, sometimes, it's just a goof on the programmer.

It is annoying, however, to continually get ticket after ticket for the same problem. We know we screwed up the first time you entered the ticket. We get it. If you keep hitting us over the head with the problem, it really isn't going to solve anything faster. If anything, the developer gets more frustrated with the continual beat down and either will try to put off completing the ticket or won't do as good of a fix since now he has to waste his time answering all of the status updates that users want.
